At the corner of Pearl and San Jacinto Streets Plaza of the Americas towers over the Arts District in Dallas, Texas. Originally constructed in 1980, Plaza of the Americas has undergone two major renovations that have brought its infrastructure and lease space up to a superior standard. Most recently, the major mixed-use complex has upgraded its heat and smoke exhaust solution with a modern WindowMaster window automation system that also neatly integrates into the building BMS.

The heart of Plaza of the Americas is the 13-story glass atrium featuring an indoor urban garden filled with natural light, art, and flowing fountains. This creates a calm and natural environment. To achieve a light and welcoming atmosphere the entrances are made of glass with operable windows. 24 of these windows have been fitted with UL certified actuators including Plus panels that integrate into the existing BMS. Through the integration of the WCC Plus panel with the Master fire life safety system, a signal can be provided confirming if the automated windows are opened or closed.
UL certified window actuators ensure safety indoors
By relying on UL certified window actuators, the building complex complies with construction and engineering safety and is assured the highest quality. All products from WindowMaster used at Plaza of the Americas are UL 325 certified and act as sub-components in the master fire life safety system. The window actuators used to control the windows are WMU 836-1, which uses natural driving forces for the efficient exhaust of smoke and heat. The products communicate through power supplies with MotorLink® – an intelligent patented digital communication from WindowMaster that allows the actuators and control panels to communicate vital information.
