WindowMaster partners with Blue Squared in Australia

In March 2026, WindowMaster’s CEO Erik Boyter and Sales Director, Nordic and International, Lasse Lyng Madsen, took part in the Danish State Visit to Australia, where green transition and energy-efficient urban development were key themes across the business programme. The visit reflected a shared Danish-Australian ambition: to reduce the climate impact of the built environment and explore practical pathways to lower energy use and greenhouse gas emissions from buildings and construction.

New ground for Danish collaboration

Geopolitically, this is a significant moment for Denmark and Australia to deepen business relations and grow together. Australia is looking towards Europe not only as a trade partner, but also as a gateway to innovation, technical knowledge and proven solutions that can support the country’s green transition. At the same time, high quality remains a strong value driver in the Australian market, creating good alignment with Danish companies known for reliable, well-documented and energy-efficient solutions. Australia’s green building transition therefore opens new ground for Danish collaboration. The country is accelerating its net-zero agenda through major investment in greener buildings and housing, including a target of 1.2 million new well-located homes over five years. For Danish companies with experience in energy-efficient building design and renovation, that creates a strong platform for dialogue, knowledge-sharing and new business.

A new partnership for long-term market development

During the business delegation in Melbourne, WindowMaster announced an exclusive partnership with Australian integrator Blue Squared Window Automation. Under the agreement, Blue Squared will actively promote and sell WindowMaster’s solutions in Australia, reinforcing a shared commitment to long-term collaboration and continued market development. WindowMaster has been present in the Australian market for several years. The partnership therefore builds on several years of local activity and marks an important step in strengthening the company’s local presence. By combining WindowMaster’s experience in intelligent window automation and indoor climate solutions with Blue Squared’s local market knowledge and integration expertise, the collaboration creates a solid foundation for supporting healthier and safer buildings across Australia.

“Strong partnerships matter, especially when they are built on mutual trust, local market understanding and a common commitment to creating better indoor environments for the people who use buildings every day. This partnership reflects a shared ambition: to build something strong for the long term. Together with Blue Squared, we look forward to advancing a healthy and safe built environment across Australia.”

A royal highlight in Melbourne

During the Business Conference in Melbourne, Her Majesty Queen Mary of Denmark took part in the Royal Business Walk, meeting companies from the Green Buildings and Renewable Energy sectors together with their Australian partners before officially opening the conference ‘Partnering for a Green, Secure, and Sustainable Tomorrow’. As part of the programme, Lasse Lyng Madsen had the pleasure of meeting Her Majesty and sharing perspectives on the strong potential of natural and hybrid ventilation in Australia. The conversation highlighted how Australia’s many climate zones call for flexible ventilation strategies that can respond to different building types, local conditions and performance requirements. In that context, natural and hybrid ventilation offer relevant opportunities to reduce energy use, support a healthy indoor climate and contribute to a safer, more energy-efficient built environment.

The future starts with today’s buildings

The visit to Melbourne also included Erik Boyter joining the panel discussion Decarbonising the Future Building Stock — a timely conversation on how innovation, digital tools and practical building solutions can help shape resilient, lower-carbon cities. A clear message emerged from the discussion: the building stock of tomorrow is, to a large extent, the one we already have. That makes renovation, upgrading and transformation essential to reducing both carbon emissions and energy use in the built environment. As part of the discussion, attention was also given to Danish advancements in low-carbon materials, energy-efficient technologies and the practical application of whole-life carbon thinking across the building sector. These are areas where Denmark has developed strong experience, and where proven solutions can offer relevant inspiration in an Australian context. The panel also highlighted how Danish approaches to energy design, smart buildings and high-performance standards have supported Denmark’s progress towards net-zero ambitions. For Australia, the relevance lies not in copying solutions directly, but in learning from a more holistic approach where operational energy, embodied carbon, indoor climate and long-term building performance are considered together. As Erik Boyter emphasised during the debate, buildings remain the single largest source of greenhouse gas emissions globally. That is why the key to unlocking meaningful carbon and energy savings lies in the existing building stock. Tomorrow’s buildings are, in many cases, the buildings that are already standing today. Renovation, upgrading and transformation must therefore play a central role in the transition. At the same time, Australians spend approximately 90 per cent of their time indoors, making indoor climate a vital part of health and wellbeing — and an essential consideration whenever buildings are renovated and improved.

Exploring future-ready ventilation in Sydney

During the visit, Erik Boyter and Lasse Lyng Madsen also visited Sydney’s Darling Harbour, where the Harbourside redevelopment is transforming one of the city’s most recognisable waterfront destinations. Blue Squared describes it as a landmark mixed-use project and notes that it is delivering the façade automation package in partnership with Chevalier Aluminium. The scheme includes 63 automated awning windows powered by 126 WindowMaster WMX 826 chain actuators, with MotorLink® integration supporting intelligent control and compatibility with wider building management systems.

That makes the project a strong example of how façade automation can be integrated early in a complex development to support both performance and user experience. In a prominent waterfront location such as Darling Harbour, automated window operation can help balance ventilation needs, indoor air quality and day-to-day usability within a high-profile urban setting. The project also reflects the value of close collaboration between façade specialists, automation partners and system providers when natural ventilation is intended to play an active role in the building’s operation.

For WindowMaster, the project illustrates how intelligent window automation can contribute to healthier and more energy-efficient buildings in Australia’s evolving urban landscape. It also shows how local delivery expertise matters. Blue Squared positions itself as WindowMaster’s official Australian distributor and automation partner, providing technical support and end-to-end delivery for commercial projects, which strengthens the connection between proven technology and local project execution.

“This is a strong example of how buildings can be designed to work better for the people inside them while also supporting a healthier, more energy efficient built environment. It is equally encouraging to see this progress together with strong local partners who understand the market and share our long-term ambition. Seeing our solutions contribute to projects like this reinforces my belief in what we can achieve through strong collaboration in Australia.”
