EN12101-2 is a European product standard with the title “Specification for Natural Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilators“. It sets out the performance criteria and
testing required to demonstrate compliance.
Since July 1, 2013, under the Construction Product Regulations, manufacturers of Natural Smoke and Heat Exhaust Ventilators must demonstrate compliance and CE
mark those products according to the European product standard EN 12101-2:2003.
To assure proven functioning and suitability of the motorized window, both the window and window actuator must be tested together according to the European norm
EN 12101-2. (EN 12101-2:2003, Chapters 8.2 and 8.3)
This means that a window and window actuator combined by a manufacturer to create a smoke vent should be tested, approved, and CE-certified as one single unit, after which the whole solution is classified as a compliant smoke ventilator.
