Education & Institutions
In 2017 the new faculty for art, music, and design was ready to open the doors to students and staff. The 14,800 square meter large faculty belonging to the University in Bergen, Norway, is designed by Snøhetta, and houses around 600 students and 130 employees.
The faculty is built according to Tek10 passive house standards and close attention has been paid to sustainable solutions throughout the entire building process.
Besides the impressive design, an optimum indoor climate and safety was of utmost importance from the very beginning. WindowMaster was therefore chosen to deliver a solution that can control both the heat and smoke ventilation and comfort ventilation.
The heat & smoke ventilation is achieved through WindowMaster’s FlexiSmoke system, which is linked to the building BMS. The intelligent system further controls the indoor climate based on factors such as indoor CO2 level and outdoor weather conditions and ensures that fresh air is supplied in accurate amounts whenever needed.
The comfort ventilation works by automatically opening and closing the windows, which are also used for removing smoke in case of fire. The automatic windows are controlled with WindowMaster’s chain actuators WMU 836.
To ensure that students and employees always work in the optimum indoor climate, WindowMaster also performs service support of the heat & smoke as well as comfort ventilation system via their service partner Monsen Elektro, beginning in 2019.
