At this sports school in Germany, an intelligent combination of exhaust fans in the locker room and controlled, intelligent natural ventilation in the sports hall is applied via automatically controlled windows.
The sports hall and surrounding areas are naturally ventilated through the facade windows, thus providing a comfortable indoor climate. Night cooling supports the good indoor climate during the summer period, where warmer nights are often experienced. By cooling the building during the night, students will be welcomed by a fresh and comfortable indoor temperature in the morning, which means that there is no need to use energy-inefficient air conditioning.
The inevitable high humidity that occurs in the locker rooms when students shower is lowered by exhaust fans. Fresh air is let in from the sports hall with individual open windows.
This is a project where controlled use of natural resources (wind) provides a cheap and energy-efficient way to ventilate a sports facility.
