Aarhus Municipality

Aarhus Municipality

Country/City:

Denmark, Aarhus

Building type:

Commercial buildings

Solution:

Natural ventilation, Mixed mode ventilation

System:

NV Advance®

Year:

2012

By the end of 2012, Aarhus Municipality's new office building was ready to welcome the employees for the first time. The 6,000 m2 building is Denmark's first zero-energy office building, which is achieved by using hybrid ventilation, exterior sun screens, 1100 m2 solar panels, 420 m2 solar heating, rainwater collection system, recycled materials and high insulation structures.

The offices, meeting rooms and reception; ie. by far the majority of the building, is ventilated with hybrid ventilation from WindowMaster.

Hybrid ventilation

The hybrid ventilation solution is designed so that the predominant type of ventilation during the summer is automated natural ventilation, while in the winter it is balanced mechanical ventilation. Which of the two systems that are the most beneficial for the indoor climate at a given time is automatically determined by the hybrid system based on the outdoor temperature as well as measurements of indoor temperature and CO2 level.
